Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler has announced a nine point nine million dollar Airport Improvement Program grant from the Department of Transportation to the Columbia Regional Airport. The grant will help fund Columbia Regional Airport’s runway expansion project. The expanded runway will allow the airport to service flights using higher capacity aircraft. This comes as the Columbia Regional Airport bolsters its infrastructure and marketing strategies to better connect the City of Columbia and surrounding areas to important service cities. Of this grant, seven point five million was supported by Hartzler in the appropriations package for Fiscal Year 2020. An additional 990 thousand came through the CARES Act, and one point four million from formula funding.
