Four Injured in Cooper County Accident

A man and three children from the state of Florida all suffered moderate injuries in an accident on westbound I-70 in Cooper County around 8 Sunday morning. The State Highway Patrol says 41-year-old James Gerking of Green Cove Springs, Florida, fell asleep at the wheel, and his minivan went off the right side of the highway, and hit the embankment and the overpass for Route M at mile marker 94. He, a seven-year-old girl, and two boys, ages 9 and 5, were all taken to Columbia.
