Four Injured In A Lewis Co Accident Involving An Ambulance

Four people were hurt, one seriously, in a two-vehicle accident involving an ambulance on Highway 6 three miles east of Lewistown just after 5 Tuesday afternoon. The State Highway Patrol reports a pickup driven by 65-year old Steven Fries of Knox City began to yield to an Adair County ambulance driven by 29-year old Cheyenne Hyle of Unionville. Fries’s pickup went off the right side of the road. He overcorrected returning to the road and struck the ambulance. Both vehicles went off the left side of the road, where they came to rest. An occupant in the ambulance, 48-year old Dawn Ramos of Kirksville, suffered serious injuries and was flown to Quincy. Another occupant in the ambulance, 49-year old Anthony Sims of Unionville and the driver, Hyle, had moderate injuries and were taken to Quincy. Fries was also taken to Quincy with moderate injuries.
