Former Sheriff Nichols On Egley-Acton Legacy
23 years after Leon Egley and Jason Acton were killed while on duty at the old Randolph County Jail, the man convicted of their murders has been executed. One of Egley and Acton’s colleagues hopes this will bring peace to the county and to their families.

Nichols was a chief deputy in 2000 when Egley and Acton were murdered, and he was the sheriff when the current Randolph County Justice Center opened. He said that building is their legacy….
Two other people involved in those murders, Tracie Bulington and Roy Vance, are serving life sentences in Missouri prisons.
