Former North Shelby Coach Honored With MSHSAA’s Distinguished Service Award

Former North Shelby scholar bowl coach Sandy Werr was recognized during Friday’s MSHSAA state tournament in Columbia with the Distinguished Service Award.  Werr, who spent nearly three decades coaching the Raiders, explains what she’s enjoyed from her time as coaching and more recently when helping at tournaments throughout the season.

Werr, who helped to make scholar bowl a MSHSAA-sanctioned activity in 1996, also remains involved as a rules interpreter.

Former North Shelby Scholar Bowl Coach Sandy Werr was one of two former coaches recognized by MSHSAA during this weekend’s state tournament.  She was recognized moments before North Shelby received their trophy for winning the Class One State Championship, their second title in three years.
