Food Safety Workshops Available For Produce Growers

Produce safety training workshops are available later this month and February for growers who need to complete required training under the Food Safety Modernization Act.  The sessions are offered jointly by University of Missouri Extension and Kansas State University Research and Extension, under the direction of food safety specialist Londa Nwadike.

Producer training will take place both in-person and online, with the online course set for the afternoon of January 25th and 27th, while an in-person workshop is set for February 9th in Olathe, Kansas.  Separate annual supervisor training courses are planned for January 18th in Olathe and January 21st online.  These sessions are available at no cost to participants.

Nwadike notes that a separate certification process for Good Agricultural Practices is available for producers on February 14th, with a $5 registration fee.

Registration for, and additional details about, upcoming produce safety training workshops are available through the K-State Extension website.
