The Missouri Department of Conservation reports more than 293 thousand deer were harvested during the 2021-22 deer-hunting season that ended Saturday. Around 143 thousand were antlered bucks, 26 thousand were button bucks and 124 thousand were does. The top harvest counties were Franklin, Texas and Callaway. Compared to 2020-21, the total number was down nearly four thousand, antlered bucks were up just over two thousand while button bucks were down two thousand. Does harvested were down more than three thousand. Four firearms-related hunting incidents were reported with one of them being fatal.
