Tuesday was the filing deadling for the August election, and there are officially four candidates seeking to replace retiring Randolph County Sheriff Mark Nichols. Republicans Aaron K. Wilson, Chris Wertz, and Will Barger, along with Democat Michael Hopper have submitted their names. Democrat Steve Barnes and Republican John Tracy have filed for Eastern District Commissioner. Wayne Wilcox decided not to seek reelection. Republican incumbent Western District Commissioner John Hobbs has refiled on the Republican ticket, as has Art Sumpter and Frank Miller. Three Republicans are seeking the coroner’s post; Sid Conklin, Jeremy Saunders and Charlie Peel. Incumbents J. Kevin Stone and Mary Jo Colley have refiled for Assessor and Public Administrator, respectively.
