America’s feedlots had the most cattle on hand to start February. USDA’s monthly report released Friday indicated that just over 12-point-one million head were in the nation’s feedlots as of the first, up one percent from a year ago. That’s as a result of just over two million placements during January–a three-percent increase–and marketings dropping six percent at one-point-eight-two million. USDA said February’s population is a record for the month in the 25 years they’ve released monthly Cattle on Feed updates.
