Feeder Cattle Population Nearly Matches Last November’s Totals

The nation’s feedlots started November with less than one percent fewer cattle than the same point a year ago.  USDA’s monthly Cattle on Feed report indicates that the nation’s largest feedlots contained 11,948,000 head of cattle as of November first, a decrease of 25,000 head.  Placements were up two percent at 2,245,000 head.  While both were in line with trader expectations, marketings fell short at 1,788,000, a five-percent decline.
