Weather permitting, Fayette will host Knox County in a varsity doubleheader Friday night in a mid-season matchup. The girls game will feature two teams trying to jumpstart their seasons as Fayette comes in with a record of 3-9 while Knox County is 2-11. Fayette has had a full week to prepare after falling in the third place game of the New Franklin Tournament to Sweet Springs. Fayette coach Valerie Foland says the focus in this game will be slowing down Knox County’s Riley Strange.

Fayette will counter with their lone senior, Abbey Conrow, who averages 20 points per game. Conrow passed 1,000 points for her career last week in the New Franklin Tournament. While Fayette, will be focused on stopping the Lady Eagles inside, Knox County will be focused on scoring in the paint. The Lady Eagles rely on points in the paint, having made just 16 three-pointers this season. Knox County coach James Dent says offensive execution will be crucial.

The boys matchup also features two evenly matched teams with Fayette coming in at 6-6 while Knox County is 5-9. Fayette is coming off a third place finish last week at the New Franklin Tournament. Fayette coach Jon Bishop says they’ve had a productive week of practice since the tournament.

The Falcons feature the dynamic guard tandem of Kyle Schleeter and Cale Polson who average 20 and 14 points a game respectively. Knox County coach Zach Short says slowing those two down will be important for the Eagles.

Knox County will counter with their own sharpshooter in junior Conner Hayes who set the school record for three-pointers in a season last year. Coverage of the Knox County at Fayette doubleheader will begin tonight at 5:50 on KRES and centralmoinfo.com Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
