Fayette Girls Pick Up First District Title Since 2004 Behind Second Straight Upset

After beating two-seed Westran in the semifinals, the Fayette Lady Falcons knocked off Class 2 District 7 top seed Salisbury 49-33 for their first district title since 2004. Fayette gained control early behind the hot hand of Oakleigh Hill.

Austin Ward with the call on 99.9 The Captain and centralmoinfo.com. Hill finished with a game-high 18 points. The Lady Falcons’ lead hovered around double digits for all of the third quarter and they pushed it to 14 early in the fourth.

Kebrea Fair ended with 16 points. Coach Daryl Betts said he knew two things going into the game.

Salisbury got 14 points from Julia Sloan. Coach Cloe Billington said shots simply weren’t falling.

The Lady Panthers end the season 22-6. Fayette plays at defending state champion Tipton Monday.

The Lady Falcons are 21-8.
