Fatal Crash in Adair County Monday

One person is dead following a accident at the intersection of Highway 63 and Missouri Highway 6 East in Adair County Monday afternoon. At 12:44pm, a tractor-trailer was headed southbound on 63, attempting to turn left onto eastbound 6 and turned into the path of an SUV. The two vehicles struck head-on and the driver of the SUV, 28-year-old Monica Steele of Kirksville was taken from the scene by ambulance with serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at an area hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer, 49-year-old John Blenz from Kingman, Kansas, was uninjured.
