Familiar Week 1 Collision Between South Shelby And Milan Set For Friday Night

For the fourth straight year the Milan Wildcats face the South Shelby Cardinals to kickoff the football season Friday. This year’s contest will be played under the lights in Shelbina. Milan coach Mark Cole tips his cap to the Cardinal program.

South Shelby finished 8-4 last season, led by graduated KRES All-Star quarterback Trey Countryman. Coach Adam Gunterman says his new starter has been determined.

Senior quarterback Ahmet Niasse headlines an athletic and speedy Milan attack. Cole says the offense has to show up against a physical Cardinal team.

South Shelby allowed 21 points per game defensively last season. Gunterman emphasizes the benefits of starting the season out strong.

The Cardinals have won the last two meetings with the Wildcats, last year’s result ending 35-23. Due to heat kickoff has been moved to 8 pm. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:40 on Superstation KRES 104.7 and centralmoinfo.com. Steven Findley Jr will have the call.
