ELECTION RESULTS; HUNTSVILLE ISSUE DEFEATED OVERWHELMINGLY

Voters in Huntsville overwhelmingly rejected a proposal to sell the water and wastewater utility to Missouri American Water. The unofficially vote count was 257 against the proposal and 47 in favor. Randolph County Clerk Will Ellis was pleased with the turnout, which was close to 32 percent.
Monroe City’s ballot issue asking voters if the city should issue 7-point-7 million dollars in bonds to improve the sewer system was approved. The New Franklin School District measure asking for an increase in the operating tax levy was approved, as was Hallsville’s issue to sell the wastewater or sewer utility owned by the city.
