Tuesday is election day in a number of communities in our area. Voters in Huntsville head to the polls to determine whether or not to sell the water and wastewater utility to Missouri American Water. In Hallsville, the question about selling the wastewater or sewer utility owned by the city is on the ballot. New Franklin School District patrons are being asked to increase the operating tax levy by $1 per $100 of assessed valuations for maintaining and upgrading school buildings and classrooms, purchasing school supplies and technology, and for compensation for district employees and other operating expenses. Monroe City’s ballot asks voters if the city should issue $7.7 million in bonds to improve the sewer system.
