The merger of two animal health companies is now complete. Elanco announced Monday morning the close of their seven-point-six billion dollar purchase of Bayer Animal Health. CEO Jeff Simmons marked the milestone during a virtual press conference.

Simmons says one of the company’s goals going forward will be helping farmers deliver a food-secure world.

Elanco’s purchase of Bayer Animal Health increases the Indiana-based company’s presence in the Kansas City metro. Its former parent company Eli Lilly acquired Ivy Animal Health of Overland Park, Kansas in 2007, and last year acquired Aratana Therapeutics of Leawood. Bayer Animal Health maintained its North American headquarters in Shawnee, and its North American operations president Joyce Lee will now become Elanco’s vice president of U.S. pet health and commercial operations.
