The State Highway Patrol says eight people died in traffic accidents over the holiday counting period, which ran from 6 Thursday night through 11:59 Sunday night. Troopers investigated 310 traffic crashes, which caused 92 injuries. Two of the crashes that caused deaths were in Troop C west of St. Louis, and two were in Troop F in central Missouri. One each was investigated by the police departments in Kansas City, St. Louis, Overland, and Wentzville. Last year, the Patrol reported 746 traffic crashes, with ten deaths, 86 injuries, and 62 DWI arrests.
