Visitors who enter the new Center for Soy Innovation in Jefferson City will walk into a main lobby filled with displays showcasing the growth and many uses of the soybean. Robert Alpers, chairman of the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council, says education is a key function of the new building.

Alpers says the new building includes meeting spaces for groups to gather and learn more about agriculture in Missouri or discuss new ways to promote or use the state’s crops.

Alpers is a soybean farmer outside Prairie Home.
