Drinking water will be the main benefit of the East Locust Creek Reservoir in Sullivan County. Last week, Governor Mike Parson was in Milan to sign a resolution that expresses support for up to $24 million in state funds for the 2,300 acre lake. Sullivan County Presiding Commissioner Chris May said the lake will also provide recreation.

May estimated a timeline for completion of the project.

May said the lake will be five miles northeast of Milan and will supply water to a 10-county region. The state resolution supports funding of the North Central Missouri Regional Water Commission project.
