Drury Dumps Truman

Both Drury teams came out strong in a sweep of Truman Thursday night in Springfield.

The Lady Panthers built a 24 point lead by halftime and the number one team in the country cruised to a 77-56 victory over the Bulldogs. Truman turned the ball over 30 times, which resulted in a 34-12 advantage for undefeated Drury in points from turnovers. National Player of the Year, Hailey Diestelkamp scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Drury. The Lady Panthers are now 26-0 and have won 46 straight conference games. Katie Jaseckas led Truman with 18. The Bulldogs fall to 13-4 in the GLVC and 17-7 overall. The Bulldogs drop to 4th in the Point Rating Standings for conference tournament seeding.

The Drury men scored the last 13 points of the first half and pulled away from Truman for a 71-52 win. That run made the halftime score 39-22 and the Panthers pushed the lead to as much as 31 points in the second half. Points from turnovers favored Drury 35-10. Conley Garrison scored 24 points to help Drury to their 7th straight win. The Panthers are 11-6 in the GLVC and 18-7 overall. Alex McQuinn was the only double figure scorer for Truman with 14 and the junior blocked five shots. The Bulldogs are tied with Missouri-St. Louis for the top mark in the conference at 13-4, but the ‘Dogs drop down to 4th in the Point Rating System and 17-8 overall.

The Truman teams will have Senior Day games at Pershing Arena on Saturday. The Bulldogs will host Southwest Baptist and you can hear the games on KRES starting at 12:45. Find our interviews with both coaches below.
