After six years as Slater’s head boys basketball coach Dillon Yung is departing the program to return to Pilot Grove. Yung served as a student-teacher and baseball coach at Pilot Grove prior to his time at Slater. He explains his decision to return there.

Along with his time spent at Pilot Grove, Yung also became familiar with the Tigers by coaching against them in CAC matchups while at Slater. The Wildcats went 11-2 against Pilot Grove during Yung’s six-year tenure. Yung says Pilot Grove’s program has a promising future.

Yung is coming off a 13-14 record in his final season at Slater. The Wildcats were 107-51 during Yung’s run as head coach. Yung also served as Slater’s athletic director. He says there are plenty of good memories from his time at Slater.

Yung explains the hardest part of saying goodbye to the Slater basketball program.

Yung inherits a Pilot Grove squad that went 11-17 this past year. The Tigers’ last winning season was an 18-11 mark in the 2014-15 campaign.
