Dalton Collins Leads Fayette to Emotional Win

Dalton Collins scored 30 points to lead Fayette to an emotional 84-71 win over South Shelby to start Class 3 District 7 play. Fayette honored Cash Valencia, who was tragically killed over the weekend. Team members, students and fans wore t-shirts with Valencia’s name and number on them. In the game, South Shelby erased an 11-point second quarter deficit to take a pair of leads, but Fayette had an answer each time.

Collins’ three was the beginning of an 8-0 run to close the half for Fayette. South Shelby coach Dalton Armontrout believes that was the turning point in the game.

Armontrout concludes his first season as head coach at South Shelby.

Cole Mitchell and Trey Countryman each had 24 points. South Shelby ends its season 9-17. Fayette moves to 14-10 and will play at South Callaway in the district semis Thursday at 6.
