Earlier this week John Dabney announced his decision to retire as the head football coach at Milan High School, bringing an end to a career that spans nearly 30 years. After a year as an assistant coach at Culver-Stockton, Dabney started his high school head coaching career in 1994 at his alma mater of Knox County. After eleven years with the Eagles, Dabney took over the Milan program in 2006. During his time at Milan, Dabney led them to five unbeaten regular seasons, including four consecutive from 2011 to 2014. The Wildcats went 6-5 under Dabney this past season. However, they graduated only six players from that team.
