Court Challenge To Beef Checkoff Programs Defeated

A magistrate judge sided with USDA and 15 state beef checkoff programs Wednesday in a lawsuit challenging their constitutionality. National Cattleman’s Beef Association CEO Colin Woodall called the ruling a victory for the beef industry.

The lawsuit was filed by Ranchers-Cattlemen Action Legal Fund or R-CALF, initially targeting the Montana Beef Council. Missouri is not one of the 15 states named in the lawsuit.
