Cottrell Sentenced To 20 Years in Prison

A Mexico woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday in Audrain County Court to two counts of abuse of a child with serious emotional injury, two counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree. Between 2016 and 2017, 37-year-old Stephanie Cottrell repeatedly sodomized and abused a five-year-old girl, and failed to adequately care for an infant, resulting in the infant’s failure to thrive. Both were removed from the home and have been permanently adopted.
