Coronavirus Not Disrupting Student Progress in New Franklin
The coronavirus has forced the cancellation of schools throughout the state of Missouri. Among these is the New Franklin School District. New Franklin Superintendent Brian Cordel says the process of having students working from home is running smoothly, due to staff being on-call.
The staff’s availability to take questions from students has been particularly important since many students in the district lack the ability to do work online. The district sent home work packets for students to work on remotely during the shut down. Cordel explains the process they will go through on potentially re-opening classrooms.
The New Franklin School Board has also announced all district staff will be paid in full during the coronavirus crisis. A salary increase of all licensed staff is also being considered by the school board. Their next meeting is scheduled for April 15th.
