This is National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day
According to a survey in honor of the holiday, 87% of Americans say they like grilled cheese.
The top five cheeses we want in our sandwiches are: Cheddar . . . American . . . Swiss . . . provolone . . . and pepper jack.

“Grilled Cheese Sandwich”

4 slices white bread
3 tablespoons butter, divided
2 slices Cheddar cheese

Preheat skillet over medium heat. Generously butter one side of a slice of bread. Place bread butter-side-down onto skillet bottom and add 1 slice of cheese. Butter a second slice of bread on one side and place butter-side-up on top of sandwich. Grill until lightly browned and flip over; continue grilling until cheese is melted. Repeat with remaining 2 slices of bread, butter and slice of cheese.

“Spaghetti Salad”

16 oz. spaghetti, cooked and drained
3/4 c. mayonnaise
1/4 c. soy sauce
1 tsp. mustard
salt and pepper to taste

Mayo soy sauceadd garlic salt, about 1/2 tsp mix together, and add it to the cooked spagetti and mix it. Then add, a 1/2 c. each of celery, onion, and green pepper, 1 package frozen small peas, 1 can water chestnuts chopped, 4 oz. can mushrooms chopped, green and black olives as much as you want. Add to the spaghetti mixture, mix up, and put in the refrigerator.

“Strawberry Rhubarb Pie”

1 pint strawberries
2 c. sliced rhubarb
3/4 c. brown sugar
9″ pie crusts
1/2 c. white sugar
2 T. flour
1 tsp. lemon rind, grated

Heat strawberries and rhubarb a few minutes. Combine all ingredients and pour into crust. Top with crust. Bake at 350 for 50 minutes or less.

“Rhubarb Jam”

5 c. sugar
5 c. rhubarb
1 lb. candied orange slices, cut fine

Add a small amount of water to sugar to dissolve, and cook with rhubarb until rhubarb is tender. Add orange slices.

“Peanut Butter Brownie” (uses Bisquick)

1 1/2 c. Bisquick
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. applesauce
1/2 c. chunky peanut butter
1/2 c. cholesterol-free egg products (or you can use 4 egg whites or 2 eggs)
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 oz. semi-sweet baking chocolate melted and cooled

Heat oven to 350. Stir in all ingredients until blended. Spread on an ungreased rectangle pan 13 by 9 by 2 inches. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until set. Cool. For brownies, cut into 9 rows by 4 rows.

“Easy Mac and Cheese Pie”

1 c. uncooked elbow macaroni, 3 1/2 oz.
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese, 8 oz.
1/2 c. original Bisquick
1 1/2 c. milk
4 tsp. red pepper sauce
2 eggs

Heat oven to 400. Grease pie plate 9 1/4 inches. Place uncooked macaroni on pie plate. Sprinkle 1 3/4 c. cheese, Stir remaining ingredients until blended. Pour into pie plate. Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake 1 to 2 minutes until cheese is melted. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
