Less than a week remains in the November portion of the firearms deer season. Monroe County Conservation Agent Haeley Eichler says safety needs to be the top priority, and it begins with making sure you have the proper hunter orange on.

Safety also includes properly identifying your target.

The firearms deer season ends next Tuesday. As of Thursday morning, just more than 123,000 deer have been harvested so far during the firearms season. Last year, the firearms total reached almost 180,000.
