Conference Rivals La Plata and Atlanta Set for Rematch

One of the best rivalries in the Tri-County North is set to re-engage Thursday evening at the La Plata Sports Complex when La Plata hosts Atlanta. The two teams met Saturday in a non-conference matchup with the Bulldogs defeating Atlanta 9-3. La Plata manager Matt Safley says they respect what the Hornets are capable of.

The Bulldogs bring a 7-3 record into the re-match with Atlanta. They’ve suffered back-to-back defeats to Clark County and New Franklin since their weekend triumph against the Hornets. Safley says he anticipates his offense getting back on track against Atlanta.

The Hornets ran their record to 4-5 as they rallied for eight runs in the sixth inning to defeat Schuyler County 8-3 on Tuesday night. Atlanta manager Collan Thrasher says they have to work carefully against this Bulldog lineup.

Atlanta beat La Plata in last spring’s lone matchup 4-0. The two teams split the two contests during the recent fall season. Thrasher says this game comes down to execution on the mound.

Pregame coverage will begin at 4:45 pm on KRES 104.7 and centralmoinfo.com. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
