The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association 2020 Hall of Fame Class announced last week includes former Harrisburg boys head coach Steve Combs. The current Harrisburg superintendent shares his coaching memories.

The Harrisburg graduate Combs coached the Bulldogs until 2017 when he accepted Harrisburg’s superintendent job. Combs watched his All-State son Cade’s senior year from a different perspective in 2017-18, and daughter Baylie received a KRES All-Star selection this year.

Combs guided his alma mater to the 2006 and 2008 state championships and six state semifinal appearances in 18 seasons. Centralmoinfo.com asked Combs if coaching basketball still enters his mind.

Combs enters the Hall of Fame in the same class as Greg Buescher, who coached Sturgeon to the 2010 state championship while Combs manned the Harrisburg sidelines.

Due to the coronavirus, the MBCA Hall of Fame induction will be postponed to September 13th in Springfield. Hear Steve Combs’ full Hall of Fame interview on the Chariton Valley Magic City Sports Talk page at centralmoinfo.com.
