Combs Honored to have Harrisburg Basketball Court Named After Him

For 18 years, Steve Combs led the Harrisburg boys basketball team to nine district championships, six state semifinal appearances and two state titles. During Friday night’s varsity doubleheader between Harrisburg and Sturgeon, Combs was recognized by having the basketball court named after him. Combs says it was a rewarding moment.

The night also featured a reunion of the 2002-03 boys basketball team, which was Combs’ first to reach the state semifinals. Combs says having them present made the moment extra special.

Combs retired as the head coach of the Bulldogs following the 2016-17 season. He took over as the district’s superintendent at the start of the next school year. He has since taken up the role of assistant coach for current boys basketball coach Kyle Fisher. Combs describes his role on Fisher’s staff.

Fisher previously played for Combs at Harrisburg then spent seven years as his assistant coach.
