Columbia Woman Killed After Pulling in Front of Semi

A Columbia woman died in a crash on Highway 63 near Vandiver Drive. The Columbia Police Department reports 37-year-old Shannon Marrero of Columbia parked her vehicle on the shoulder of northbound 63 to assist another motorist. 35-year-old John Lammers of Jefferson City was driving his semi northbound and moved from the driving lane to the passing lane when he observed the other vehicles. For unknown reasons, Marrero made a U-turn into the path of Lammers and was struck on the driver’s side. Marrero was pronounced dead at the scene.
