Columbia Police Continuing to Seek Public Assistance in Homicide of Sturgeon Man

The Columbia Police Department is continuing to ask for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in relation to the homicide of 38-year-old Joseph Hecht of Sturgeon. Authorities are currently looking for 24-year-old Marlin Cortez Johnson of Columbia. He is wanted for second degree murder and armed criminal action. Johnson is described as a 5’10” black man, weighing approximately 160 lbs. He has brown eyes, dreadlocks, and tattoos on his left shoulder and right forearm. Johnson is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to call 911 or Crimestoppers at 573-875-TIPS to remain anonymous. Columbia Police previously arrested 23-year-old Kesan Tyree McNeal of Columbia for the fatal shooting of Hecht, which occurred early Saturday morning.
