Columbia Man Killed in Lafayette County Motorcycle Accident

A Columbia man was killed in an accident on I-70 in Lafayette County. The State Highway Patrol reports around 3:25 Thursday afternoon, 45-year-old Michael Kniest changed lanes on his motorcycle while heading westbound near mile marker 31, and he hit the trailer of a semi driven by 55-year-old Lira Ruben of Bakersfield, California. Kniest was taken to Independence, where he died less than an hour later. Ruben was not hurt.
