COLUMBIA MAN FACES DWI CHARGE AFTER SERIOUS ACCIDENT

A Columbia man faces a charge of driving while intoxicated causing a serious injury following an accident around 6:20 Wednesday night, Columbia Police booked 30-year-old Travis Mechlin. He was headed south of Paris Road when he attempted to turn onto the ramp to southbound Highway 63. He hit an SUV driven by 42-year-old Jamey Sheppard of Columbia, Sheppard had life-threatening injuries. Mechlin had minor injuries. A passenger in his truck, 23-year-old Kevin Clark of Dixon had moderate injuries.
