Columbia College women’s basketball coach Taylor Possail has rounded out his recruiting class and it includes some mid-Missouri talent. Reghan Smith of Mexico is a two-time First Team All-NCMC and All-District selection. As a senior for the Lady Bulldogs, Smith averaged nine points per game and led the team in steals. The all-time leading scorer at Tipton, Abby Backes, also joins the Lady Cougars. This past season she averaged almost 23 points per game in leading the Lady Cardinals to the state championship game. Backes finished her Tipton career with 2,637 points.

The Columbia College women’s basketball recruiting class also includes Mount Mercy transfer Sofia Popp, Springfield Kickapoo guard Leah Fredrick, and Sullivan High School guard Mallory Shetley.

The Lady Cougars finished this past season with a record of 25-7. Former Cairo standout Mackenzie Dubbert was named to the AMC All-Freshman team.
