City of Hallsville Working With School District on School Resource Officer Plan

The City of Hallsville is working on a plan with the Hallsville School District to allow the Hallsville Police Department to station a School Resource Office in the district. Hallsville Mayor Logan Carter says the plan was hashed out after the previous School Resource Officer program with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was ended.

The deal was ended by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office due to staffing issues. The plan with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office was a cost-share among all of the Boone County school districts. Carter says the plan with the Hallsville Police Department would be similar.

A presentation for the School Resource Officer plan was presented at Wednesday’s Hallsville School Board meeting. However, the board chose to table a decision on the plan until its January meeting.
