Chain Reaction Accident Blocked Westbound I-70 In Cooper County

The westbound lane of Interstate 70 was blocked for several hours at the Missouri River bridge in Cooper County as a result of a six-vehicle accident at 10:00 Tuesday morning. The Highway Patrol reports all six vehicles was slowing due to construction which restricted traffic to one lane when an unknown vehicle swerved and braked abruptly in front of a van driven by 37-year old Tom Shipp of Russellville causing the chain reaction crash. None of the drivers were from our listening area. The only injury was listed as minor to a St. Charles driver.
