Just over a month remains for farmers who have experienced losses in their farm income because of the pandemic to seek assistance from USDA. Farm Service Agency Administrator Richard Fordyce says funds remain available through the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program. He explains how payments are calculated.

Payments are also available for losses incurred in dairy and specialty crops. Fordyce notes that farmers will be able to self-certify their affected production.

As of last Monday, nearly six-point-three billion dollars were distributed to over 400-thousand farmers, out of at least 16 billion made available for the program. Farmers wishing to apply can contact their local FSA office or visit USDA’s website. The application deadline is August 28th.
