Centralia Pole Vault Standout Freidel Signs With Kansas

Centralia senior pole vaulter Jake Freidel signed with Kansas track and field last Monday.

Freidel boasts a personal best jump of 15-05. An appearance at last year’s KU Relays also attracted Freidel to the Jayhawks.

The senior also considered Nebraska and the University of South Dakota. Freidel enters his second season for Centralia head coach Jim Newsted.

Freidel previously attended Father Tolton for two years. Newsted discusses Freidel’s development.

Freidel landed third at state with a 14-06 last spring. The senior indicates the disappointment fuels him.

When Freidel signed with Kansas last Monday, fellow Centralia senior pole vaulter Lynsie Curtis signed with West Virginia. Senior thrower Lacey Pavlak signed with Kansas State in November. Newsted evaluates the Centralia program’s success after recent Division I signings.
