Centralia, Macon Advance to Class 4 District 8 Boys Semifinals

Centralia and Macon used solid defensive efforts to advance to the semifinals of the Class 4 District 8 boys tournament.
Despite being without senior Beau Gordon, Centralia rolled to a 52-31 victory over Moberly. The Panthers led by five after one, 10 after two and 12 after three.
Austin Ward with the call on Glory 97.3 at centralmoinfo.com. Grant Erisman led Centralia with 13 points and Noah Brooks provided 12. Coach Scott Humphrey was proud of the complete effort.
Moberly’s Jaisten Payne was held to 10 points. Coach Cord Hagedorn’s squad graduates six seniors and will only have one returner next year with significant varsity experience.
The Spartans end the season 9-18. Centralia is 13-13 and will play Mexico in the semifinals.
Macon defeated Hallsville 48-34. After hitting all their shots inside the arc in the first half, the Tigers expanded their range in the third.
Boston Douglas scored a game-high 19 points and Maurice Magruder put in 11. Coach Dale Devenport’s team held Hallsville leading scorer AJ Austene to six points.
Hallsville finishes 10-15. 19-8 Macon will play Kirksville in the semis.
