Carvajal Excited for Return to Coaching at Meadville

After nearly a decade away from coaching, Steve Carvajal is returning to the sidelines as the new Meadville girls basketball coach. Carvajal says he’s excited to return to coaching.

Carvajal most recently served as superintendent at Schuyler County through the 2020-21 school year. Prior to that, he was a superintendent at Salem and Clever in southern Missouri. His coaching credentials include nine years and a boys basketball state title at North Shelby in 2005. He also coached for four years at La Plata, winning a baseball state title in 2011. Carvajal explains his desired playing style.

Carvajal inherits a Meadville squad that went 20-6 this past year and graduated just three seniors. He says he anticipates a strong season from the team.

Carvajal’s return to coaching also provides an opportunity for him to coach his daughters Paige and Madison. He will also serve as a P.E. teacher at Meadville.
