Cargill To Build Soy Processing Plant In Bootheel

A major food processor has unveiled plans for a soybean crush facility in Southeast Missouri’s Pemiscot County.  Cargill says they will build a processing facility outside Caruthersville, with the potential to process 62 million bushels of soybeans a year.  It’s welcome news for Missouri soybean growers looking for another outlet for their crop.  Missouri Soybeans executive director Gary Wheeler says they’ve worked for several years to bring the facility to the state.

The plant is projected to create 45 jobs and open in 2026.  Wheeler says its benefits will impact farmers well beyond Southeast Missouri.

Missouri Soybeans executive director Gary Wheeler also commended Missouri governor Mike Parson, lieutenant governor Mike Kehoe, and the state department of economic development for their role in bringing the new processing facility.
