Cardinals Announce 2020 Opening Day Roster

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced their 2020 Opening Day roster ahead of tomorrow night’s season opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium. The roster includes three first-time Cardinals in Austin Dean, Kwang Hyun Kim, and Kodi Whitley. It also includes 17 players that were developed within the Cardinals organization. In order to fill out their roster, the Cardinals made several transactions. These included Kodi Whitley being selected from the Alternate Training Site roster. Meanwhile, Austin Dean, Junior Fernandez, Andrew Knizner (Kiz-ner), and Edmundo Sosa were recalled from the Alternate Training Site roster. Along with Jordan Hicks skipping the 2020 season due to the pandemic, the Cardinals will have John Brebbia, Giovanny Gallegos, and Brad Miller starting the season on the injured list.

CATCHERS (3): Andrew Knizner, Yadier Molina, Matt Wieters;

INFIELDERS (7): Matt Carpenter, Paul DeJong, Tommy Edman, Paul Goldschmidt, Rangel Ravelo, Edmundo Sosa, Kolten Wong;

OUTFIELDERS (5): Harrison Bader, Austin Dean, Dexter Fowler, Tyler O’Neill, Lane Thomas.
