An Auxvasse farm has received a ten-thousand dollar award for their successful conservation practices. Brinker Farms was recognized with the Aldo Leopold Conservation Award at the Missouri Natural Resources Conference, Wednesday night in Osage Beach. Owners Kenny and Susan Brinker have adopted practices protecting soil, air and water quality around their farrow-to-finish hog facilities in northern Callaway County. The Brinkers were one of the first operations in the nation to adopt the National Pork Board’s Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan. They also utilize no-till, terraces, and grass waterways on their row-crop acreage. The award was presented by the Sand County Foundation, Missouri Farmers Care, Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council, and USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.
