Cairo Turns Seven-Run Deficit Into Run Rule Victory

Cairo baseball turned a big deficit into an 18-8 run rule victory over Sturgeon Tuesday. The Bulldogs came out of the gate hot.

Cairo’s monster fourth inning included 15 batters sent to the plate, 12 runs and nine hits. Hayden Holman started on the mound for the Bearcats and gave up three runs before being pulled one batter into the second for Logan Head. Sturgeon’s Ben Doss was pulled in the fourth inning and tagged for seven runs. Isaac Bolles took the loss. Coach Michael Smith says the usual mistakes proved costly.

Holman, Jack Prewett and Gage Wilson all reached base four times for Cairo.

The win moves Cairo to 5-2. Sturgeon drops to 1-5.
