Cairo Is 3rd After Day 1 MSHSAA State Girls Golf Championships

A pair of Big K Area schools placed in the top four after the first day of the 49th MSHSAA State Girls Golf Championships at Sedalia. Beginning in Class 1, the Cairo golf team is in 3rd place with a score of 429. Tarkio leads at 413, followed by South Harrison at 418. The Lady Cats are three strokes ahead of East Buchanan. Kennedy Kearns and Avery Martin lead Cairo in a tie for 23rd at 104. Highland’s Morgan Crist is in 3rd with a score of 88. Other top 15 individuals included Putnam County’s Abbie Koenen and Salisbury’s Averie Wilhoit. Koenen is tied for 8th at 95 while Wilhoit is tied for 10th with a score of 96 respectively. Harrisburg’s Alexis Maiden is 21st at 101, which it two strokes from top 15.
Hallsville is in 7th in Class 2. Southern Boone’s Breckyn Shewmake is in a tie for 17th place with a 94.
In Class 3 Hannibal is 4th after accumulating a 364 team score. The Lady Pirates are one stroke ahead of Helias. Siena Minor tied for fourth individually and shot a 73. Kirksville’s Addison Davis is in 11th place with a 78. In Class 4, Father Tolton is in 5th with eight strokes separating the team from 4th place. Audrey Rischer is tied for 10th after a round of 77.
