Busick Voted Against Open Enrollment

State Representative Danny Busick of Newtown voted against the open enrollment bill that passed the Missouri House 85-69 last week, but he thinks it might only have a minimal impact on area districts.

The bill also allows districts to opt out of taking students, or limit new students to grades where there are available slots. Busick does think the transportation issues are a major problem in this bill.

Busick says he voted against the bill because it creates too much red tape for rural districts. If enacted, it would take effect in the 2024-25 school year.
