Busick Supports Bypass Studies For Macon and Hannibal

The budget being finalized by the Legislature this week contains appropriations for bypass studies for both Macon and Hannibal. Two and a half million dollars is earmarked for plans, land acquisition, and relocating utilities in Macon, but not construction. State Representative Danny Busick supports getting a Highway 63 bypass built.

Busick notes some Macon businesses might fear a loss of traffic.

Busick says removing through traffic from around the Macon Schools campus would make that area safer. The budget proposal also has two million dollars to do a similar study for a Highway 61 bypass around Hannibal. Busick hopes the funds for the construction would be available in the near future.
